Does Your Child Find It Difficult To Solve Written Mathematical Problems?
Mathematical word problems can be described as an equation inside a story. Some students can find it challenging to work out what the equation is!
Our Mathematics Problem Solving workshop programs will appeal to students from Years 3 to 6 who can find it challenging to interpret and solve mathematical word problems. Students will be taught how to read a mathematical word problem and distinguish between the key information, and the information that is irrelevant to the equation.
Whilst the emphasis is on enjoying the process of mathematical problem solving, the focus of the program is to develop each students’ understandings and ability to use the ten main problem solving strategies. Students will also have the opportunity to improve their skills, abilities and confidence to approach and tackle different types of mathematical word problems.
There will be a maximum number of 5 students in each workshop.
Up to 5 students from similar year levels can participate in each ‘Mathematics Problem Solving’ workshop program, which is live, and facilitated by a qualified and experienced tutor. Optional homework tasks are provided following each workshop, enabling students to revise, practise and consolidate the skills that were focused on.
Our ‘Mathematics Problem Solving’ workshop programs are scheduled regularly throughout the year.
