Let our expert tutors assist your child to prepare for their scholarship or selective school entry exam.
Is Your Child Applying For An Academic Scholarship Or Entry To A Selective School?
Scholarship tests used by many Australian schools are designed to identify academically able students. The tests rank the academic performance of scholarship applicants, and reveal students who have the ability to interpret, infer, deduce and think critically.
Scholarship assessments are not curriculum based or diagnostic, nor do they test the ability of a student to retrieve and apply learned knowledge. Students can prepare for scholarship tests in a variety of ways, including completing practice tests, a variety of open ended questions and past test papers. Most organisations who develop scholarship tests have a large range of resources available for students to purchase, that can assist with their exam preparation.
Prepare For Selective School Entry Assessments
Selective School Entry Assessments are designed to identify high achieving students and measure a student’s ability in Mathematics, Reading, General Ability and Writing. Selective high schools cater for academically talented students with high potential, enabling them to study and learn with students of like-minds and similar ability. There are many ways students can prepare for Selective School Entry Assessments including completing practice tests, a variety of open ended questions and past test papers.

Practice test materials involve students analysing, interpreting, comprehending and drawing conclusions from the information given. In written expression tests, students are invited to respond to a topic in any way they feel is most appropriate.
- The amount of text a student writes in this test is not as important as the way they express their thoughts and ideas.
- Numerical reasoning assessments test the ability of a student to use and reason with a choice of numbers, whether they are presented in a mathematical conundrum or a separate entity that fits within a prescribed system.
- Verbal reasoning tests measure a student’s verbal comprehension, reasoning and logic, through their understanding of language.
- Reading comprehension tests evaluate the ability of a student to understand and interpret the ideas they read in a piece of language arts text, which can involve both written and visual stimuli.
